Harlequin Hi-Shine installation at the Musée de l’Elysée

01 octobre 2018

The Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland held its 8th Night of Images event on June 23rd 2018.  The contemporary art and photography exhibition brought together nearly 40 Swiss and international photographers and artists and over 6000 visitors.

Photographer Rachel Rom chose for her contribution a unique cave location in the grounds of the photography museum. Completing her video installation, Harlequin Hi-Shine in gloss black was selected for its reflective qualities.

Rachel Rom explained: “I conceived  this installation as an elliptical, almost soft, organic space, where gravity no longer seems to exist.

I work a lot with TV set designers who recommended the shiny Harlequin Hi-Shine floor. I was delighted with the result. The reflection of the Harlequin Hi-shine vinyl is similar to the reflections of the water. I also wanted the ground to be soft, to destabilise the viewer and take him to a parallel world.”

The 9th Night of Images will take place on June 22nd 2019.
